Description
This trip is really geared towards those who want to experience their first time spending a few nights aboard, and shorter day-sailing trips between stops for the night.

We’re never more than a couple hours from safe harbor, and there are several local anchorages to enjoy; so, this is a great opportunity wade into the shallow end of the cruising experience, while having expert guidance as your host!

This is an ideal trip for the couple considering buying a boat, but you first want to test the waters, so to speak. It’s also just a lovely short trip with great meals prepared for you, and an enjoyable selection of snacks and refreshments! Here’s what to expect:

DAY 1

  • We meet at Escape Velocity by 9am – make introductions, a quick orientation to the boat, stow your personal belongings aboard, and just take it all in – that you’re here, and the adventure you’re about to embark on!
  • A safety briefing, discuss current weather conditions and expectations, discussion about the general trip/passage plan, and departure plan – break for lunch.
  • Depart from marina and spend the afternoon sailing around San Carlos, taking anchorage in San Carlos that afternoon.
  • And, of course, enjoying the local landscape, scenery, shore excursion to local beaches or shops if desired, and generally enjoying the company!

DAY 2

  • We wake up at anchor and enjoy a leisurely morning preparing breakfast and hot coffee.
  • Late morning, we depart for a 3-4hr sail for Bahia Catalina, taking anchorage that afternoon in a scenic little gem that feels very remote, while only being an hour from the city of Guaymas.
  • A gourmet dinner is prepared aboard!

DAY 3

  • Another relaxed morning with a home-cooked breakfast, hot coffee, as we discuss our sailing plans for the day.
  • Late morning departure from Catalina for a windward (and sometimes sporting) sail back towards San Carlos.
  • After a 4-6hr sail, we take anchorage right off the beach, where we can enjoy a dinghy ride to shore, have a drink and snack at a local beach restaurant, or just enjoy being on the water!

DAY 4

  • By now, you’ll definitely not be sick of having a home-cooked breakfast made for you, and a delicious hot brew to start your day!
  • We will pick up anchor later that morning, and enjoy approx. 3hrs of sailing with a return to our slip in the afternoon, with plenty of time for you to enjoy whatever plans you make for that evening, after a successful 4 day adventure!

The nature of coastal cruising is a balance of setting goals and accounting for weather, and any other contingencies that can and do arise on passage. As such, we have built in a reasonable amount of time into the schedule to ensure the safety, comfort, and fun levels are prioritized for all participants.
